Ski and Snowboard Footbeds

Ski and snowboard boot footbeds, also known as insoles or orthotics, are inserts that provide support, alignment, and comfort to your feet inside the boots. They can significantly enhance your performance and alleviate common foot-related issues associated with skiing and snowboarding.

Here are some key points about ski and snowboard boot footbeds:

Support and Alignment: Footbeds are designed to support your arches and provide proper alignment for your feet. They help distribute your weight evenly, improving balance and control while skiing or snowboarding. By promoting proper alignment, footbeds can also reduce the risk of fatigue and injury.

Customization: Footbeds can be custom-made or off-the-shelf. Custom footbeds are individually molded to your feet, taking into account any specific foot abnormalities or arch types. Off-the-shelf footbeds come in different sizes and arch shapes but may not provide the same level of customization as custom-made ones.

Arch Support: Arch support is a crucial feature of ski and snowboard footbeds. Different individuals have different arch types, such as high arches, low arches, or flat feet. Footbeds with proper arch support can help alleviate foot pain, reduce strain on the arches, and enhance overall comfort.

Shock Absorption: Skiing and snowboarding involve high-impact activities, and footbeds can provide shock absorption to minimize the stress on your feet, ankles, and joints. This feature can be particularly beneficial during jumps, landings, and rough terrain.

Pressure Distribution: Footbeds can help distribute pressure more evenly across your feet, reducing hot spots, blisters, and discomfort. By minimizing pressure points, footbeds can improve comfort and allow you to enjoy longer sessions on the slopes.

Personalization: Some footbeds are heat-moldable, meaning they can be customized to the unique shape of your feet. They can be heated and then molded to provide a more precise fit and better support.

Expert Assistance: It is recommended to seek assistance from a professional boot fitter or ski shop when choosing and fitting footbeds. They have the expertise to assess your feet, determine the appropriate footbed type, and ensure a proper fit within your ski or snowboard boots.

Remember, the right footbeds can greatly enhance your comfort, performance, and enjoyment on the slopes. It's important to consider your individual foot characteristics, skiing or snowboarding style, and any specific foot-related issues when selecting footbeds for your boots.

Review by Daniel Comp, Mosier

"As a lifelong outdoor sports enthusiast, I'm disappointed that I waited 62 years to get custom orthotics for my walking, running and cycling shoes and orthotic insoles for my wetsuit booties for when I windsurf and wind foil. I will also get a pair for my snowboarding boots this winter.

These are completely new experiences now that my feet are actually connected to my gear and to the ground.  Thanks for changing everything Mark!

PS - those stupid little massage balls actually work!”

Review by Scott Rowley, Hood River

"Mark from Footworx seriously changed the game for me. My ski boots have never been so comfortable as a result of implementing his custom orthotics. I was nervous that my test day was going to cause a ton of pain, but this proved to not be the case. I spent 11 1/2 hours in my boots climbing Mount Shasta and skiing 7000 vertical feet off the top. This was by far the best day I have ever had in a pair of ski boots, and I look forward to the many days that will follow.

Thanks a TON Mark! Seriously, if your booths are giving trouble or you want to improve performance give Mark a call!"

"I went to Mark to have my feet examined after learning about him through Angelina's Wellness by Choice. I had been experiencing some foot pain for a long time by now from being on my feet for hours at a time in my pipe organ workshop.

I was impressed with how extremely knowledgeable Mark was as I asked him questions. And I'm as picky as any Dutchman would be in these things. I'm happy to report that I have my orthotics and that I also purchased several of Mark's foot health products to nurture my feet at the end of each day!"
